Namaste And Peaceful Greetings

 

I began to meditate a few years ago and have found it to be very useful in very stressful everyday situations.


I think it would be a good idea for you to go online and research the many different types of meditation and breathing excercises and the various types of music - of which there are many and very much.  I will only speak of a few that I personally do.


I simply breath deeply.  I breath in slowly through my nose and pull it in deep with my stomach then slowly exhale back out my mouth.  It will be difficult at first but your body will get used to it and it will become very easy after a few days.  I believe this to be the key to productive meditation  If you research this online you might try the keywords: Deep breathing excercises


The next thing I do is simply sit and relax and clear my mind.  For some the classic “Lotus” position is good but this is not really necessary.  Any comfortable spot, a couch or chair, simply sitting on the floor or on you bed, if you sit on the floor a nice cushion is much nicer.  Its hard to clear the mind completely, this is to be expected.  The mind is a powerful thing and it takes time to learn to “quiet” your thoughts.  This is where some music or concentration may come in handy for you.


You can use any kind of music you like but the “meditation” type music is designed for this and will help much more.  There are many types of this to listen to, for me the natural nature sounds with meditative music works wonders for me.  You can use just plain nature sounds or just the music separate.  For some Classical music can help too.  If you research this online you might try to go to the book stores websites and type in the keywords: Meditation or Relaxation or Healing or Spa music and they should give you a good list of what they have to offer.  Sample many different kinds before you choose


If your going to research meditation online try using the keywords: Methods of meditation or styles or meditation.
This is all just a basic overview of meditation there are many many good websites online and doing a little research on your own is very helpful.  Yes there are books but why go and get those when you can research online and print up anything that might help you.  Spending money on books I think would only add more stress.


The whole real idea of meditating is being able to let go of your troubles if only for a little while, it will give a different perspective on things and the physical benefits are just too many to mention here.


I also have a container garden, which I find to me also very relaxing and rewarding.  With live and real plants, outside and inside.  Its wonderful to watch something grow out of a seed you collected from the previous year.
