Reference/Learning

Humanitarians, Visionaries, Heroes, and You by Mary Feliciani

Book Review

This one is really a little treasure. It gives one the best "learning blocks" for getting the idea of peace and humanitarianism in the world today.
I also love the details the author gives about each of her choices and the words they themselves spoke.
The world today definitely needs more books like this.

The pictures are gorgeous and glossy, it just seems I can't quite find the ones in my yard in this book.  Aside from that it will be going on the trips out and such.

Compact World Atlas 7th Edition by DK

Book Review

This is just what I was looking for, except I think the pages should be centered rather than spliced so far into the binding one has to nearly ruin the binding to see something.  I love it otherwise though.  Simple and easy.  If you are looking for something with huge amounts of details of countries then this is not for you but if you are wanting something that is going to show you quickly where something is, even if it is in the binding then this one is for you

365 Days Of Happiness

Book Review

Absolutely charming cover I say that this book has helped me through 3 of the most difficult months of my life.  It sits on my desk next to my computer to give me daily smiles.  I am grateful this book came into my life at this time.

National Audubon Society

Field Guide To Birds Western Region

Book Review

A wonderful guide for a more experienced birder, not really something for good field use though, flipping back and fourth would get bothersome especially in a rough place.  Much better to leave at home and refer to at leisure.  The pictures in it are gorgeous though, of all the bird books I have I must say the images here are the best.  Information is good, a good hand sized book.  You could I suppose take it with you on a trip if you don't mind taking a moment to sit down and file through it.  Not something I would  recommend to an amateur birder though, it would simply be too hard to use in the field, an excellent guide for back yard birding for all levels though

National Audubon Society
Field Guide To Mammals

Book Review

Check above review, its the same with the exception that its not for birds but mammals.  I adore this one as well but again just not practical to use in the field or even at a zoo or garden.  Just leave it at home and take lots of photos and write notes then get into your books.  I really like these National Audubon Society books and plan on getting another fore my collection.  The images here are just as gorgeous and luxuriant.

The Soulful Home Design Guide

Natalia Kaylin

Book Review

I have been reading several books of this nature lately and really like the way this one is put together, the way it covers all you need to use and set room by room and even a small section on plants.  This one is a top notch book, to be really honest though, a companion book for those of us on a budget would go well with this maybe something with some DIY ideas.

The bold font mixed with italicized is a bit different fram what I see in these types of books, but its not unappealing.  The candles being actually lit would have added a more serene vibe.

Vegetable Garden Soil Science Made Easy
James R. Bright

Book Review

This is a very comprehensive book about soil and many other gardening things including container gardening {which is my personal garden of choice}.  There were some things in here I did not know or quite understand that I have dealt with many times over the years, but this cleared some of them up for me, I would highly recommend this to a gardener who has been doing it for a  while and is comfortable in the garden and has questions or is possibly ready to change to a container garden or raised bed garden.
A few images might have been nice though, something to show the final outcome.
This should be in anyone's garden library though, even a newbie, if they can't quite get it all now it will come to be useful later.

I personally like the cover but I can see that it might not do it for some, as the cover is the first thing one looks at.  Some tomatoes and peppers as well as the carrots, to give it some pop of color

My Road Goes Ever On
A Timeless Journey
A.K. Frailey

Book Review

I am hard to place this one in my library, so because I have read it nearly every day since I received it and I plan to continue to read it over many times I am placing it in my daily reads spot in my bookcase next to my bed for either morning or evening reading.
This one is great, it is inspirational as well as very down to earth in philosophy.
This one you pick up and just read and read and it makes you think about things.
Would highly recommend it to go with anyone's collection of daily reads, be they devotional or not.

I think a more green planet look I would have liked better but it does get across the idea of the book, we are all connected and to a bigger place.

101 Tips For Better And More Healthy Sleep
Alan E. Smith

Book Review

This one has some really good thought put into it, I would have added a small section on fresh air and air in general {plants} and such, I have done a bit of research myself and from personal experience have noticed that fresh air does play a part in productive sleeping.  Having said that, this is a great little book if you are at your wits end for a good nights sleep and have run out of ideas as to why you can't.
This really should go next to a medical guide, yes I think that much of it, to put it next to the big important books in my personal library.

A lighter blue might have been a bit better and not such quite a bright yellow, for those reading this right before bed, to me the yellow was an exciting color, pretty but just not quite the calming effect.

The Lexicologist's Handbook
Dan Cobain

Book Review

This is a must have for anyone that reads. It has come in quite handy, me being a lover of antique reading.  It has found its home right alongside all my other dictionaries of modern and renaissance words.

It has a lot nicer cover than my other dictionaries

Book Review

First let me say I love the cover; I love the cover.

I also like the way its organized-one thought at at time, not jumbled but clear.  I love the way its set..........I want to do this or I want to do that and its clear to be able to allow you you're own creativity.  I also took special interest in the plant sections being a plant parent myself I very much appreciated that.  The glossary in the back was also very helpful for beginners.

Overall a good book for your shelves
